I'm not sure how but somehow we pulled of Orem Dance Theatre's second annual Nutcracker performance. The girls were amazing. It is so rewarding as a teacher to see them improve so greatly. It was hard to start with an entire studio of beginners last year but they have worked so hard! They are quickly becoming absolutely fantastic dancers! But I am definitely relieved that it is over and I can now enjoy Christmas. Well done girls!

WE LOVE DANCE CAMP!
Dance camp turned out to be a blast. It was the perfect way to make sure the girls didn't forget all their progress from last year. The first two hours were ballet where they brushed up on their technique, we then had a snack, played self-image games and finally tackled a new jazz combination. It was fun to see the girls again. We missed you all summer!!!!
Most importantly, as part of summer dance camp, each of the girls signed the Seventeen Magazine Body Peace Treaty. It is an awesome treaty with which the girls made the following promises:
1 - Never blame my body for the bad day I'm having.
2 - Stop joining in when my friends compare and trash their own bodies.
3 - Never allow a dirty look from someone else to influence how I feel about my appearance.
4 - Don't judge anyone else by his or her looks.
5 - Notice all the amazing things my body does for me: walk, run DANCE!
6 - Respect my body by feeding it well, working it, and knowing when to give it a break.
7 - Realize that the mirror only reflects the outside and not my beauty inside.
8 - Know that I AM BEAUTIFUL just the way I am!
Each and every one of our students is fabulous and amazing in her own special way. I love each one of you to pieces!

So it was our second official show and I think it turned out fabulous! We changed venues from Windsor Elementary School in Orem to the Covey Center for the Atrs in Provo....and what a difference! Not that the elementary school wasn't great, but the Covey Center was nothing short of amazing! My goodness! The students absolutely loved being on the big stage. And we actually had a crew :). We were so proud of all the girls! They are fantastic! We can't wait to get started with classes again in the fall.
Way to go!

The Nutcracker!
Well what can I say...WE DID IT! We pulled off our first official show with Orem Dance Theatre! What a ride! It was definitely an exciting moment for Beth and I and I am sure for the girls too. We worked our heads off and learned ALOT of lessons. But most importantly, we had so much fun doing it. What awesome girls we have!

A BIG BIG rehearsal in a SMALL SMALL studio!
Don't get me wrong...I love our little cozy studio. Maybe it wasn't meant for all 50 students to be there at the same time! However, despite the chaos, it was a blast. This was when it really hit me that my dream was coming true. Our very first run through of anything cohesive. The students were so patient and wonderful. I can't wait for years down the road when I can look back on this very first official rehearsal!
